What: Screening and Filmmaker Panel for Tangled Up in Bob: Searching for Bob Dylan
When: Wednesday, September 5, 7 p.m.
Where: Great Hall, Peterson Student Center, St. John’s College
“Bob Dylan may be the Shakespeare of our time,” says BJ Rolfzen, Dylan’s high school English teacher. Even Shakespeare had parents and a hometown; Dylan grew up in Hibbing, Minnesota. Natalie Goldberg – painter, poet and well-known writer – travels to Hibbing to examine Dylan’s geographic and musical roots in the film Tangled Up in Bob: Searching for Bob Dylan: A Minnesota Story, which will be screened at the Great Hall on Wednesday, September 5 at 7 pm.
Present at the screening will be Natalie Goldberg and Tangled’s director and producer Mary Feidt. After the film, Natalie and Mary will field questions from the audience about their process in making this film.
Natalie Goldberg’s book Writing Down the Bones has sold over a million copies, has been translated into 13 languages, and is taught in writing classes across the country. She is the author of nine other books, the latest of which is The Great Failure: My Unexpected Path to Truth. Mary Feidt, winner of the George Foster Peabody Award, has worked as an associate producer on documentaries for America Undercover by HBO and Frontline by WGBH, one of which won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Documentary Filmmaking. Tangled Up in Bob is her first feature-length documentary.
This event is free and open to the public.
