Lecture at St. John’s on Stendhal’s “The Red andthe Black”

St. John’s tutor Jeffrey Smith will give his lecture, “Stendhal's Prophecy for Liberal Democracy: Thoughts on “'The Red and the Black’” at St. John’s College.The lecture is free and open to the public and will be held in the Francis Scott Key Auditorium on February 17 at 8:15 p.m.

Smith received his bachelor of arts in philosophy and political science from Emory University, and also was named a Mellon Fellow in the humanities. He received his doctorate from the University of Chicago, Committee on Social Thought. Smith joined the faculty at St. John’s as a tutor in 2001.
