Meet the Admissions Staff: Anya Cruz

Anya Cruz, a native New Mexican and lover of green chile, resides in Santa Fe and loves talking to anyone and everyone about college: college admissions, college tours, college classes, college transition, all things college.  After a ten-year adventure in the Midwest, triggered by her time as a student at Carleton College, her soul cried out for a return to the beautiful sunsets and abundant light of her home state.

Anya received her master’s degree in liberal arts from St. John’s College. Her favorite quote in the program is from Galileo’s Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems: “What we are here for is to discuss things, and it is good for everyone to raise his objections as they occur to him, for that is the road to knowledge. So speak up.”  When not traversing the globe in search of fellow Johnnies and kindred spirits, she likes to break-dance in the living room with her son, watch football with her husband, and bake cookies by herself.

Anya thinks Santa Fe is beautiful during all four seasons, particularly in the fall and spring and invites you to visit and decide for yourself.  She is so glad to be part of the truly academic community at St. John’s College and is happy to talk to students and families about what they’re reading; also about the college, the program, the books, and the two campuses.
