Podcast: Alumnus is a “17-year cicada of learning”
Gil Roth (AGI95), author of the blog Virtual Memories since February of 2003, spent his vacation this summer attending Piraeus in Annapolis. Based in New Jersey, Roth wryly describes himself as a “17-year cicada of learning” as he explains in a recent podcast that the impetus for his return to the college was his admiration for the two tutors who led his seminar. "I attended the Flannery O'Connor Piraeus seminar, making my first real St. John's visit since I finished the Graduate Institute in 1995. It was a transformative experience for me, both in and out of seminar,” says Roth. “During the weekend, I interviewed two of my favorite tutors, David Townsend and Tom May, for my Virtual Memories Show podcast."
The conversations between Roth and his tutors get to the heart of the St. John’s Program—exploring everything from how the reading list has evolved, to the challenges of leading a conversation as a tutor. Listen to the podcasts on this page, or visit Roth’s blog to see his comments.
